Bat exclusion is a process designed to allow bats that are currently inside your home to leave naturally while preventing them from getting back in.

We evaluate the exterior of the structure and seal potential bat entry points around areas such as rooflines, soffit, fascia, siding, flashing, vents, and other construction gaps. At openings that bats are actively using, we install one-way exclusion devices. These allow the bats to exit but prevent them from re-entering through the same opening.

The goal isn’t simply to close the opening where bats have been seen. It’s to secure the structure so they can’t simply move to another opening and get back inside.

There isn’t a reliable way to visually inspect a structure and confirm that every bat is gone. Bats can be hidden inside walls, attics, or other areas where they can’t be seen, and they may simply be outside the structure at the time of an inspection.

That’s why professional bat exclusion doesn’t rely on coming back and looking for bats. Instead, one-way exclusion devices give bats a way to leave naturally while preventing them from returning.

Once the structure has been properly secured and the bats have been given sufficient time to exit, continued freedom from interior bat activity is the best indication that the exclusion was successful. Bats don’t necessarily leave the structure every night, and weather and temperature can affect their activity. Seeing or hearing some activity shortly after your home has been bat-proofed does not necessarily mean the exclusion has failed.

The exclusion devices are intentionally left in place to give the bats adequate time and opportunity to leave naturally.

Yes. It is possible to experience some bat activity shortly after the exclusion work has been completed.

Bats that were already inside the structure at the time of service still need to locate an exclusion device and leave. For that reason, we ask customers to allow at least 10 days for the exclusion process to work.

You may also continue to see bats flying around your property or occasionally roosting on the exterior of your home. Bat proofing is intended to prevent bats from living inside the structure; it does not prevent bats from being present outdoors or temporarily roosting on exterior surfaces.

The opening where you’ve seen bats entering may be only one of several openings they can use.

Bats can fit through extremely small construction gaps. If we simply seal the obvious entrance without addressing the rest of the structure, bats may find another opening and continue getting inside.

Even more importantly, an active opening should not simply be sealed while bats are still inside. That’s why we use one-way exclusion devices at appropriate locations while securing other potential entry points.

A successful bat exclusion addresses the structure as a whole rather than treating only the most obvious opening.

Surprisingly small. Depending on the opening’s shape, bats can use gaps approximately 1/4 inch wide.

Yes. In many cases, we can provide a bat-proofing estimate by reviewing photos of the exterior of your home along with information about the property.

We ask for clear photos of at least the front and rear of the structure. Additional photos of the sides, rooflines, areas where you’ve noticed bat activity, or other unusual construction details are always helpful.

If we’re unable to confidently evaluate the property from the information provided, we’ll let you know what additional information is needed.

Our complete bat-proofing service includes a 2-year return-at-no-cost warranty.

If bats regain access to the interior of the structure during the warranty period due to an area covered by our bat-proofing service, we’ll return and address the problem at no additional service charge.

The warranty applies to the structure and conditions present when the bat-proofing work was completed. Changes or damage to the structure—such as roofing, siding or construction work, storm damage, deterioration, or other newly created openings—may not be covered.

Bat exclusion solves the problem of bats entering and living in the structure, but it doesn’t remove guano or contaminated insulation that may already be present.

Pro Bat Solutions also offers attic restoration services when needed. Depending on the condition of the attic, this can include removal of contaminated insulation and bat guano, sanitizing the affected space, optional encapsulation, and installation of new insulation.

Attic restoration is a separate service from standard bat proofing and can be evaluated based on the condition of your attic.
