Following is a list of services provided by Professional Bat Management Solutions. Consultation: Talk with a bat management specialist to develop a bat management action plan for your specific situation. Our experts can diagnose the issue and provide the perfect plan for you by incorporating risk assessments, non-lethal repair and removal techniques, removal of guano, and alternate bat roosting structures. Bat Inspection: Need to verify if bats are using the structure and what services may be required to solve the problem? Just like a doctor needs to see the patient before they can prescribe a prescription, the bat management professional needs to visit the problem site to determine what, if any, services are required for a solution. Risk Assessment: For those needing a written report including photographs of the bat problem, we recommend a risk assessment be performed. We take our detailed inspection and photographs then combine them in to a report that can be given to management or the insurance company showing our findings, recommendations, and investment required to handle the problem. Bat Proofing: This is the term most frequently used for humane, non-lethal removal of bats from the building while modifying the structure to ensure bats can no longer enter it. Since most adult bats require an opening of only 3/8" by 1 1/4" to enter a structure, quality bat proofing demands attention to detail, proper materials that are high quality and long lasting, and the knowledge to apply the materials properly to be successful. Service Agreement: How long does anything last without the proper upkeep? Our service agreement is a year by year program that includes an inspection and any necessary repairs to work previously performed. Buildings are constantly expanding and contracting stressing installed materials and products. This constant stress may create new gaps that allow bats to enter the structure again, especially over time. Why pay for a warranty if you don't need it? Instead, we recommend you invest in your piece of mind with a service agreement. Cleaning: The Center for Disease Control recommends removing guano only when people will be moving through or working in the contaminated. We recommend removal of guano when these conditions exist or when an accumulation of guano places a strain on the buildings structure, interferers with the insulations ability to function properly, or when bat bugs or other bat parasites are present. Proper removal of guano and crystallized urine involves HEPA respirators that can filter particles down to .03 microns, Tyvek suits, gloves, and boot covers, HEPA filtered vacuums, and disposal at proper landfills at a minimum. Odor Control: Our first recommendation for any odor issues at a site contaminated with bat guano and urine is a proper cleaning. For odors that have soaked in to non-removable items such as rafters or bricks, other odor control methods and products need applied. In most cases we do not recommend using cover scents as it does not address the problem. Instead, odor eliminating products and machines must be used to achieve results. Site Survey: We offer two different types of site surveys, bat watches and species identification. Bat watches are recommended for structures to determine access points, number of bats using the structure and type of roost site when it cannot be determined from a bat inspection. Based on the time of year and size of the structure, several bat watches may need performed before any plan of action can be developed. Species identification surveys are environmental impact surveys required by developers and businesses before building can begin to ensure no endangered bat species are using the area. Species identification surveys involve capturing bats in areas designated for development through the use of mist nets and/or harp traps allowing each captured bat to be identified, recorded, and then released. Survey records are then reviewed by Dr. Cheryl Arnold and/or Dr. Bob Westbrook for proper analysis. The amount of time required to properly conduct a survey depends on the location and time of year the survey is done.
